The Kabul Tribune (KT) — U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday underscored the importance of strong, protected communities in preventing and responding to global health threats, saying they are essential to stopping epidemics and pandemics.
“Resilient communities are fundamental to preventing, and responding to, epidemics and pandemics,” Guterres said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “When communities are protected, we are all protected. Let’s stop epidemics in their tracks.”
Guterres’ remarks come as global health agencies continue to warn about the growing risks posed by infectious diseases, exacerbated by conflict, climate change and weak health systems in vulnerable regions.
