The Kabul Tribune (KT) — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that Washington is grateful to Pakistan for expressing openness to a possible role in a proposed international stabilization force for Gaza, even as Islamabad has not confirmed any troop commitment.
Rubio made the remarks at a news conference in Washington when asked whether the United States had received Pakistan’s consent to deploy troops for peacebuilding and peacemaking efforts in Gaza.
“We are very grateful to Pakistan for their offer to be a part of [the peacekeeping force] or at least their offer to consider being a part of it,” Rubio said.
Pakistan has not publicly announced a decision on participating in such a force, according to The News, which reported the comments on Saturday.
