The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan has called for its security concerns related to terrorism to be decisively addressed during a regional meeting on Afghanistan attended by neighboring countries and Russia in Tehran, according to Pakistan’s special representative.
Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for
Afghanistan, said he represented Islamabad at the meeting of special envoys on
Afghanistan, which was held in the Iranian capital on Sunday. The meeting was
opened with a keynote address by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi.
Sadiq said Pakistan’s ambassadors to Tehran and Kabul, along
with senior officials including the director general for Afghanistan at
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied him to the talks.
During the meeting, Pakistan stressed that terrorism remains
a serious concern for Islamabad and must be addressed with determination, Sadiq
said. He added that Pakistan seeks to promote peace, development and security
across the region through cooperative engagement.
The meeting brought together representatives from
Afghanistan’s neighboring countries and Russia as part of ongoing regional
