The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban authorities in Khost province handed down
punitive sentences to 34 individuals convicted of drug-related and forgery
crimes, the local primary court announced Sunday, December 7, 2025.
According to the court, the sentences were issued in a
public session following a ruling by the Public Security Department. The
convicted individuals received prison terms ranging from one to seven years and
corporal punishments between 10 and 39 lashes. The decision was implemented
after approval from the Supreme Court.
Taliban courts have increasingly issued public sentences for
a range of crimes, including drug offenses and forgery. Such rulings are
intended to reinforce public order and serve as a deterrent, although they have
drawn criticism from international human rights observers
