The Kabul Tribune (KT) — According to a Reuters report published on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, President Donald Trump hosted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House, marking the crown prince’s first visit in over seven years and emphasizing the strengthening of U.S.-Saudi ties. The visit comes as bin Salman seeks to rehabilitate his global image following the 2018 killing of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi and expand economic and security cooperation with Washington.
The crown prince received a ceremonial welcome on the South
Lawn, featuring a military honor guard, cannon salute, and a flyover by U.S. warplanes.
Trump and bin Salman toured presidential portraits outside the Oval Office
before engaging in talks expected to advance defense cooperation, civil nuclear
energy initiatives, and multibillion-dollar business deals.
Discussions also focused on a potential $600 billion Saudi
investment in U.S. infrastructure and artificial intelligence projects, as well
as the sale of 48 F-35 fighter jets to Riyadh—a deal that could shift the
regional military balance.
While Trump is expected to press bin Salman to consider
joining the Abraham Accords to normalize relations with Israel, analysts say
limited progress on that front is unlikely to derail broader security and
investment agreements.
The visit underscores the ongoing strategic relationship
between the world’s largest economy and the top oil exporter, reflecting
Trump’s priority on cultivating a multifaceted U.S.-Saudi partnership.
